PLANET AFRICA LEGACY
The legacy site commemorating Black film history
Dedicated to Cinema from Africa and the African Diaspora

Planet Africa is one of the most significant events in Black film history and the Canadian cultural industry yet much of its story and long-standing impact remains untold.
The Planet Africa Legacy website is a digital archive and time capsule to commemorate and preserve the collective history and creative wealth over its ten-year period 1995-2004.
A work-in-progress, it exhibits over 150 films from 120+ filmmakers that premiered in the Planet Africa programme.
2020 marked the 25th anniversary of Planet Africa. To commemorate the event the Toronto International Film Festival presented a special program Planet Africa 25
comprised of screenings, panels and parties celebrating
Planet Africa's legacy.
